Fazebuke

Yikes, would ya look at that. Not one post on here since January. Like a horse with a gimped leg or my childhood dreams of becoming an adventure seeking paleontologist, I think it’s fair to say that we’ve given up on this poor old WordPress account. It never saw much action anyway. We have a slightly more active facebook page and the Knight’s Atari facebook page (a joint publication from NUIG’s Chess and Go societies) is even more active. If you’re looking for info on the Go Society you should check out one of those two pages.

We’re always happy to meet new people, student and non-student alike, and show them how to play go. For the mean time we’re still meeting in Smokey’s cafe in NUIG from 8pm on Wednesdays, although this may change over the summer, but details will be given on the facebook page. You can always contact us (here, here, here, here, here, here, here or here) if you want to confirm times or venues, or you just want to say hi.

Over and out,

Kevin

Beginners Workshop

Well hello,

As I’m sure you’ve already noticed in this month’s Knight’s Atari, we are having a Beginners Workshop this evening in AC215 at 8pm. Last weeks chess workshop was very successful. We got to meet lots of new people. Hopefully this will be something similar.

I’ll bring some sweeties.

Kevin

Socs day & Knight’s Atari

Hey there boys and girls.

Welcome to a new semester. Pop along to our stand in Aras na Mac Leinn today for Socs day.

You can play some go with us, and get yourself a copy of the latest Knight’s Atari, hot off the presses. It can also be found online, along with a compendium of all the entries for last month’s competition.

We’ll have our first meeting of the year this evening. Also, there’s a beginner’s chess workshop tomorrow in AC215 at 8pm in case you’d like a game of chess for a change.

See ye later,

Kevin

The Toilet Paper

Hey there boys and girls.

As promised, the special December supplement for your favourite newsletter, Knight’s Atari, has arrived (pdf). Remember, you can find all previous issues of Knight’s Atari online. Don’t be put off by the fact that not all of it is in English. There’s lot’s of good stuff in there. Also google translate does either a very good or very hilarious translation of each of the reviews.

Tomorrow we will be having our Christmas party in ADB1020. This room can be found in Aras de Brun. It’s the old crappy building near the quad. It’s where we had our blitz tournament last year, if you remember.

See ye tomorrow.

Kevin

Win 100 euro!

Hey folks.

Remember to enter this month’s competition for a chance to win 100 euro. Details are in this month’s Knight’s Atari. Also, we’ve made a poster for it. I’m not sure what a bishop and two hairy coconuts have to do with literotica though. Maybe there’s something I’m not getting.

New Knight’s Atari

Hey there everyone.

December’s Knight’s Atari has arrived and our special toilet review supplement, The Toilet Paper, will be out soon. Keep an eye out around campus for them. December’s issue can be found online. This month’s edition seems to have turned out to be a little more vulgar than usual. I’m not really sure how that came about. If you are of the gentler disposition you may want to refrain from reading. Better yet, read it and write us a complaint. We do enjoy them.

We’ll be meeting up as usual this Wednesday so pop along for a break from your studies. You know where to find us. Wednesday week we will be having our Christmas party. I’ll provide you with more details later.

Facebook Page

Hey everyone.

I hope you all enjoyed the underwater chess and go. Lots of people turned up and nobody drowned, so I think that counts as a success. Thanks to all the lads from the Limerick chess club who came all the way up for it. Also, thanks to Joe Hyland and his buddy who took some cool underwater photos.

I set up a facebook page in order to share the photos, so head over there to check them out. I’m not sure how active we’ll be on that page in future, besides maybe uploading some more photos, but at least now you can “like” us and let all your friends know about it too.

See you all next Wednesday,

Kevin

Underwater Go and Chess

Hey there.

As well as our usual meeting this Wednesday, we’re going to have some underwater chess and go on Thursday. As if go on it’s own isn’t enticing enough there will be loads of sexy half naked go and chess players to perve on. How can you afford to miss it?

It’ll be in the Galway Bay Hotel from 9pm. A few of us are going to meet in Smokey’s at 8 and head from there. Join us.

Meeting this evening

Hey everyone. We’re going to have a second meeting this week. We’ll be in the Asian Lounge this evening from 8pm and there’ll be chess, go and cards. Should be fun.

And now for some cake related news. We’ve had three delicious entries so far to the pineapple cake competition in the latest Knight’s Atari

Image

ImageThe competition is still open until the end of November so come along next Wednesday and there’s a good chance you’ll get some free cake. Better yet, bake a cake for a chance to win 100 euro.

This last photo is a cake baked by Rachel and Tom at the UCC Go Tournament, but you wouldn’t know that because nobody came to it. Useless shower of …

Kevin

UCC Tournament, like.

What do you think of Cork people?

If you’d like to observe the native Corkonian in his/her native territory then this weekend is the perfect opportunity. I’m sure you’ve all heard me harp on about it already. The UCC go tournament is on this Saturday and Sunday. Please let us know if you’d like to go down to play some go or just come for the craic so we can organise when to leave, book accommodation etc… It’s definitely one of the tournaments I’d recommend this year as it’s organised by a rival university and they’ll even have a prize for best beginner. Anyways, let us know if you’re up for heading down, baaaaaaiiii.
